Get It For Free

By: Sadisha

With this economy everyone needs to pinch their pennies. Stretch your dollar as often as possible. I was just like many of you...I use to buy most of my books and music. But, if you visit your local library is it really worth it to buy? I have the option of reading many books; both physical and digital. With my personal hand-held device I can read some great books of interest straight from there. This way I eliminate any extra weight in my bag. There have been instances where I had several books at once with me at all times (purely digital e-books). Carrying actual books is not so great.

In many cases I get the opportunity to listen to a vast amount of music for free. Don't even get me started on the movies and television programs I can borrow. The only time I pay is if I had a late fee. But, when you do the math it is still worth it in most cases. Case in point...borrow a t.v. series (6 disk set). Even if I'm late by one day my fee would be $3 at my local library. It's impossible to buy or rent a series for that same low price. Perhaps I was 3 days late with a CD or book. For me, the price would be 75 cents. The cost of the book or CD could range from $12 - $21 if I purchased it. Any digital material would never have a late fee. Because, where I go the digital items are automatically removed from my account on the due date. Digital books can be added to my Kindle or e-reader. Basically, I have options and so do you.

Each library will have various fees. Ask up front what the fees are for all library material. Inquire about any digital material ex. e-books, downloading music and videos.  Use their digital catalogs to research genre, subject, title, and author. Make suggestions on what you want to see more of. Library cards tend to be free of charge.

Just think of all the free space you'll have in your home due to returning items. Otherwise your shelves would be overloaded. Do research for school, job search and even languages.

NOTE: IF YOUR LIBRARY DOESN'T OFFER IT; WRITE A SUGGESTION.  Sometimes they simply need the input of the community to make improved changes. Donating money to get new material will most likely always be welcomed.

There's Nothing Wrong with a Little Glam

To Glam or Not to Glam

 By: Sadisha

I have heard much older women speak down on women who wear makeup. I have to mention it is the funniest and entertaining thing to hear. This gaggle of women was totally tearing down those who choose to embellish their looks.  These individuals claimed that the others must be covering something up.  Or they don’t particularly care about themselves. The opposite is actually true in this case.

If you took a woman without makeup and compared her to a woman wearing it; what would you decide? More likely than not it would be assumed the one with cosmetics is more confident. This assumption would derive prior to ever hearing her say one word; or even moving around.

When I see a woman with makeup on she generally exudes a level of confidence. One lady I know admitted she never looks in the mirror after dressing for the day. Nor does she fiddle with makeup. It can be verified that she lacks any confidence. This conclusion is based on overall appearance and body language.  Confident people will at least glance in the mirror to see if they are presentable. Or it would be just a natural reaction! Perhaps buying clothes that compliment one's shape would be a fresh start for some. I have no doubt it may increase confidence within any person.
Wearing makeup and putting any effort in your appearance is essential to your mental well-being. Either way it is a choice!  Makeup is about: 1) Swag   2) Confidence   3) A way of life   4) Enhances your natural beauty.

Overall no one is right or wrong when it comes to makeup. Being natural is fine. There is no crime in looking glamorous with makeup either!  I make no apology for wearing makeup. I know how to wear it and I have no problem rockin’ the hell out of it! My only concern is pleasing me. I will never request permission from anyone on being me!  Nor should anyone else!
